Office Chairs Recalled Due to Fall Hazard



Product Hazard: Seat slider bolts and push nuts can disconnect and fall from the chair, which could cause the seat to detach from the chair, posing a fall hazard to consumers. Sold between July 2015 through February 2017

Remedy: Repair

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chairs and inspect the seat for looseness or a wobble. If you observe a wobble or looseness, or small black parts falling from the chair, please contact the firm for a free repair.

Please note that not all chairs sold during this period will experience the stated defect.

4. How do I Participate in the recall?

Contact Leggett & Platt Office Components, LLC at 844-516-3615 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or by email LP01service@leggett.com.

5. My product appears to be okay. Can I continue to use it?

Yes. If the seat appears to be secure, cannot be lifted off the black slider plate, and you have not observed any small parts falling off the chair, your chair does not have the described defect and you can continue using the chair. If you observe any of those conditions, stop using the chair immediately and contact LPOC immediately.

6. I no longer have a receipt for the product. Can I still return it?

Please call or e-mail to see if your chair is affected by the recall. If your chair contains the stated defect and has not yet been repaired, it can be repaired even without a receipt. The program does not involve any returns or refunds of the product.

7. How long will it take for me to be contacted?

Please allow one week from the date you contact us to receive a return phone call requesting additional information and scheduling an inspection or repair. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, and we assure you that we are working as diligently as possible to process your request.

8. Will I be able to repair the product myself?

No. We will have a qualified technician visit your location to inspect and repair your chair if necessary.

9. How many chairs were sold?

Total chairs sold needs to be modified to About 47,900 in the U.S. (in addition, about 1,000 in Canada)

10. Has anyone been hurt due to this problem?

No. There have not been any injuries or incidents reported.

11. Did the consumer product safety commission require your company to recall these products?

This is a voluntary product recall in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
